Cleander

Privacy Policy

Effective October 13, 2026

The short version: your photos and videos never leave your device. Cleander has no accounts and no advertising. Only if you allow it, the app sends anonymous usage statistics and crash reports to Google Firebase and Amplitude, so that we can see what works and fix what breaks. You can say no, and you can change your mind at any time in the app’s Settings.

This policy describes how the Cleander app for iPhone (“Cleander”, “the app”) handles information. The app is published by Serge German (“we”). Contact: serge.german.dev@gmail.com.

Your photos and videos

Cleander reads your photo library, with your permission, to show your photos and videos and to carry out what you ask: marking, deleting, adding to Favorites and saving edits. All of this happens on your device through Apple’s Photos framework.

You can change or withdraw the app’s access to your library at any time in the iPhone’s Settings.

Statistics and crash reports: only with your consent

On first launch the app asks whether it may send anonymous usage statistics and crash reports. Nothing is sent before you answer, and nothing is sent if you answer “Not now”. You can switch the sending on or off at any time in the app’s Settings, under Privacy. Switching it off stops the sending at once and gives the app a new random identifier, so that anything sent later cannot be joined to what was sent before. If what we collect or who receives it changes, the app asks you again.

In the European Union, the United Kingdom and other places with similar laws, your consent is the legal basis for this processing (GDPR Article 6(1)(a)); you may withdraw it at any time, which does not affect what was lawfully processed before.

What is collected

When you have allowed it, two services receive the following, without your name, email address or any account:

DataExamplesWhy
Usage eventsThe app was opened; an album or the sorting screen was opened and how many items it holds; a photo was marked, skipped, shared or edited; how many photos were deletedTo understand how the app is used and improve it
An installation identifierA random identifier that each service creates for this installation of the app. It is not Apple’s advertising or vendor identifier. It is reset when you switch the sending off or delete the app. The app shows it in Settings, so that you can quote it in a request to usTo count users and sessions and to group crash reports
Crash and diagnostic dataWhat the app was doing when it crashed, the iPhone model, the iOS version and the app versionTo find and fix errors
Device and app detailsThe iPhone model, the iOS version, the app version and the app’s languageTo see which devices and versions need attention
General locationThe country or region that Google Analytics derives from a shortened IP address. The app asks Amplitude not to record IP addresses. The app does not use location servicesStatistics by country

This information is not tied to your identity, is not used to track you across other companies’ apps and websites, and is not sold. The app does not show ads, does not ask for permission to track, and does not read Apple’s advertising identifier.

Who receives it

Two companies process the data above on our behalf, as our processors, and store it on servers in the United States:

For data from the European Union, the United Kingdom and Switzerland, transfers to the United States rely on the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework and its UK and Swiss extensions where the provider is certified under it, and otherwise on the European Commission’s standard contractual clauses. We do not share data with anyone else, except when the law requires it.

When you write to us

If you email us, we receive your email address and what you write, including the app and iOS versions that the app adds to the letter. We use this only to answer you.

The app also has a window for questions and wishes (it comes up once, and stays in Settings). What you type there is sent, together with the app version, the iPhone model, the iOS version, the app’s language and, if you allowed statistics, the installation identifier, to a small relay we run on Amazon Web Services, which forwards it to a private Telegram chat of the developers. No name or email is attached unless you write it yourself. We keep these messages for as long as we work on what they ask for.

How long it is kept

Usage and crash data is kept for no longer than 14 months and is then deleted or made anonymous by the service. Emails are kept for as long as needed to help you. Everything stored on your device is removed when you delete the app.

Your choices and rights

Children

Cleander is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Changes

If this policy changes, the new version will be published on this page with a new date.
